More About ITB and Ericom
The Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB), Dublin chose Ericom Connect to provide secure, 24/7 managed access to a shared network and cloud-based learning applications. As a result, more than 3500 staff and students can now access critical learning and productivity resources from any device, on and off-campus. With its default browser-based access, Ericom Connect makes it possible for students and staff to get up and running quickly, without having to install any client-side software or plugins. All the processing stays at the back-end in the data center, ensuring no proprietary data is ever sent to a personal device. Students can even run processor-heavy applications like CADCAM sessions remotely from their own devices. Providing access in this way also greatly simplifies implementation which in ITB’s case took just two days to complete.
In addition, Ericom has solved a long-standing issue for students wanting to print on campus. Previously, students would often have to wait in line to use one of the on-campus computers. Now they simply upload documents via their personal device and use the college Pay-for-Print application to print their material out on one of the on-campus printers.
